United States Customs and Border Protection launched a new mobile app on Monday. The administration hopes the program can expedite customs processing at U.S. airports.
The app is called Mobile Passport Control and it was developed as part of a pilot program being tested at the Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport in Atlanta.
CBP officials say it will allow eligible travelers to submit their passport information and customs declaration forms before reaching an official inspection station.
Apple users can begin using the app on Wednesday. CBP hopes to expand the program to more airports later this year.
