Rain, And Possible Flooding, On Tap For Central Arizona

The Valley could be in for some heavy showers Tuesday and Wednesday according to the National Weather Service.

Meteorologist Mark O’Malley said at times that could lead to flooding.

“There is definitely the chance that there could be some heavy rainfall filling up those washes,” O’Malley said. “So we remind everyone, don’t drive through flooded areas, you don’t know what’s underneath and you might not know how deep it is.”

O’Malley said the storms could bring damaging winds, including micro-bursts. He said there could also be considerable lightning with the storms and he advises heading indoors at the first sign of thunder.

A flash flood watch takes effect at noon Tuesday for central Arizona. It runs until 8 a.m. Wednesday.
