Recounting A Childhood Along Route 66

The tales of Route 66 have been told for decades. When it was first established in 1926, the roadway covered more than 2,400 miles from Illinois to California. And it brought millions of dreamers and vacationers to what many hoped would be a magical land.

In his new graphic novel-like memoir, "The 66 Kid," True West magazine publisher and longtime Valley artist and writer Bob Boze Bell spins his own story of growing up in Kingman, along Route 66. He started by telling us why, after all these years, he decided to write about his childhood.

Steve Goldstein was a host at KJZZ from 1997 to 2022.
