Taking Another Look At Antibacterial Soaps

The active ingredient in many popular liquid soaps is called triclosan. The state of Minnesota decided to ban all products that contain triclosan as of Jan. 1, 2017.

And the Food and Drug Administration wants makers of antibacterial hand soap and body wash to offer evidence that the cleaners including triclosan are better at preventing illness than an average bar of soap.

To learn more, we spoke to Rolf Halden, Director of the Center for Environmental Security at Arizona State University, and Phoenix Business Journal reporter Angela Gonzales.

We also found out what Scottsdale-based Henkel, which makes Dial soaps, is going to do about triclosan.
