Former University of Arizona and NFL kicker Max Zendejas has pleaded guilty to two counts of criminal damage in connection with a restaurant space he leased from the Tucson school.
Pima County prosecutors say the 50-year-old Zendejas could get up to two years in prison when he's sentenced next month.
Zendejas opened a Mexican restaurant and bar called Zendejas 13 across the street from Arizona Stadium in 2010. The Arizona Attorney General's Office accused Zendejas of stripping the restaurant of a walk-in refrigerator, HVAC system, compressors, ceiling fans and kitchen sinks worth thousands of dollars after the business closed last year, damaging both the interior and exterior of the building.
Zendejas played for the Wildcats from 1982-85 and holds the school record for career points. He spent three seasons in the NFL with Washington and Green Bay.
