Schools And Programs For Adults With Autism

The federal Centers for Disease Control and Prevention say about one in 18 kids has been identified with autism spectrum disorder. In 2002, that number was one child in 150.

With that increase, schools and other programs have started that work specifically with kids on the autism spectrum. But what happens when those children are too old to go to school? Joining me to talk about that is Denise Resnik.

Resnik is the co-founder of the Southwest Autism Research and Resource Center, or SARRC. She’s also the founder of First Place, which is a non-profit that aims to develop residential properties for adults with autism and special abilities and she’s the mother of a 23-year-old with autism.
