US Attorney's Office Visits Site Of Border Patrol Shooting Near Nogales

The U.S. Attorney’s Office for Arizona has visited the site near Nogales where a teenager was fatally shot in Mexico by a U.S. Border Patrol agent nearly two years ago.

The Border Patrol says the 16-year-old was among a group of people throwing rocks at agents and endangering their lives. Jose Antonio Elena Rodriguez was near the border fence, when the agent fired from the U.S. side.

The site visit took place Tuesday, according to a U.S. Attorney’s Office spokesman. He declined to elaborate.

The boy’s mother says he was walking home after playing basketball. She filed a lawsuit over the shooting in late July.

The teen’s aunt said she saw officials taking measurements and examining bullet holes and the Nogales International published a photo of investigators.
