McCain Comments On Islamic State

The chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff General Martin Dempsey said he continues to believe Islamic State militants represent more of a regional than an international threat.

Dempsey said he will recommend the United States military move directly against the militants when he determines they are a threat to the U.S. homeland or to Europe. But on Fox News Sunday, Arizona Senator John McCain was asked if Congress would approve a larger attack on the Islamic militants when it still has not approved President Obama’s request for additional funds for the rebels in Syria.

“Americans don’t believe that he is certainly leading in a way that they can have confidence that we will reach the conclusion, which is the defeat, not stopping, but the defeat of ISIS," McCain said.

McCain said the reason congress has not approved extra funds for the Syrian Rebels is the lack of detail from the administration on how that money would be spent.
