If you’re planning to book low-cost travel on American Airlines or the formerly Tempe-based US Airways, you’ll have one fewer option available starting Sept. 1.
The two carriers say they’re pulling flight listings from Orbitz, after failing to reach agreement on a long-term contract that would keep distribution costs competitive with low-cost carriers.
American says it has already dropped its fares from the travel website and US Airways will follow suit by the first of September.
Corporate customers of the airlines will still be able to book travel on Orbitz. Individuals will have to go to the airlines’ websites or other travel agents, including online sites like Expedia and Travelocity.
