Inaccurate or incomplete information on insurance documents could cost thousands of Arizonans their health coverage under the Affordable Care Act.
The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services says it has sent notices to about 6,600 Arizonans whose personal information, like Social Security or Permanent Resident Card numbers are different from what is on file.
Patti Urias is with Enroll America, which helps Arizonans get insurance through the ACA.
"There's always that possibility that numbers are being transposed, or there's an incorrect digit that's been entered. And all that needs to happen is that that correct digit, or the correct number, needs to be submitted so that the discrepancy can be cleared up," Urias said.
A news release from HHS said people who have been notified of the problem have until Sept. 5 to provide the information, or their ACA health coverage will end Sept. 30.
