More Rain Coming, But Flooding Unlikely

Moisture from a hurricane off Mexico’s west coast is expected to combine with our normal monsoonal flow to bring more rain Tuesday.

But Marvin Percha of the National Weather Service says we probably will not see the kind of flooding that took place last week in New River and Black Canyon City.

“It’s not like other parts of the country where if you have rain several days after an initial heavy rain, you’ll have problems. Here the soil tends to recover much more rapidly," Percha said.

Percha said though we could get in excess of an inch in the Valley and up to a couple inches in places where the precipitation is heavy.
