While many will cast ballots at the poll today for the Arizona Primary Election, others asked for and received an Early Ballot, which they may have sent in along with their primary picks.
But many of those who got Early Ballots still have them in their possession. Maricopa County Elections Director Karen Osborne, said there is a simple way to make those votes count.
“It's too late to mail it. And we have to have it in our hands by 7 o'clock. So they can drop it off at any polling place that they happen to pass by,” Osborne said.
But Osborne said there are advantages to having an Early Ballot ready to go. She said there is no need for the ID that is otherwise required,
“And there's an individual little box there for you. And you can drop it in and run like a bunny," she said.
Osborne said experience shows only about half the people who got Early Ballots will return them and about one in ten will show up at a polling place today.
