1st Congressional District Race Still Too Close To Call

Republicans vying for a chance to unseat Democratic Rep. Ann Kirkpatrick in the first Congressional District are locked in a tight race, with the results still too close to call.

The lead has gone back and forth between Springerville rancher Gary Kiehne and Arizona House Speaker Andy Tobin.

Tobin said Tuesday night that he’s not concerned, yet, about the results.

“It is early, and I will tell you why. Eight years ago almost to the day, I was first elected to the state Legislature and it took them seven days to count the ballots and I only won by 42. So, once you’ve been through that experience, you don’t fret the evening of the election," Tobin said.

State Rep. Adam Kwasman is trailing in votes. All three vowed to support whoever becomes the Republican nominee with the ultimate goal of beating Kirkpatrick in the November general election.
