Flood Information Center To Open In New River

Maricopa County will open a citizens’ flood recovery information center in New River on Thursday. It is designed to assist residents affected by last week’s flooding.

The center will be located at Daisy Mountain Fire Station #141. It will be open Thursday and Friday from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m.

Julie Syrmopoulos is with the county. She said the center’s goal is to deal with any unmet needs in the area by providing a one-stop-shop for residents.

"So what we will have is representatives from all those diff agencies that can field questions, concerns, they can put in work orders or advises us of what areas they may have concerns with in community just to make sure our response is comprehensive and effective," Syrmopoulos said.

The Maricopa County Department of Emergency Management is coordinating the efforts of county departments and private partners to answer questions and find resources on a variety of flood-related issues, from roads and sand bags to drinking water and lost animals.
