Peoria Special Election Date To Be Determined

The date for the Mesquite District Peoria City Council special election will be set this week.

U.S. Federal District Judge David Campbell will decide when the special election for the Mesquite District Seat of the Peoria City Council will be and how it will work. One option is to have all three candidates run in the general election. Another is to have a primary and then a subsequent general election.

The original primary election was halted because one candidate’s name was left off the original ballot. The judge determined a special election was necessary to make sure all voters had a chance to vote for any of the three eligible candidates.
