The high today is 5 degrees warmer than the average for this date, at 109 degrees. That means everyone out celebrating Labor Day will have to take some extra precautions from the sun.
"Make sure to stay cool, drink lots of water, also fill your body with fuel, which is food, wearing sunscreen, glasses, a hat," said Phoenix Fire Department Captain Benjamin Santillan. "And just try to stay out of the sun."
Santillan also discourages drinking energy drinks while out in the heat saying they can cause stress on the heart, and alcohol which can cause dehydration.
