Tesla will not be building its gigafactory in Arizona after all. The Associate Press is reporting the car maker will break ground in Nevada instead.
Nevada’s governor’s office is expected to make a “major economic development announcement” tomorrow. Tesla’s $5 billion factory will produce batteries for its electric car, and could produce an estimated 6,500 jobs.
Last July, Tucson issued Tesla a building permit for a 5-million-square-foot factory. Casa Grande and Albuquerque, N.M. were among the other cities looking to house the factory.
