Photo books like "Natural Collections" are on display at the Phoenix Art Museum.

An exhibit of self-published photo books are on display at the Phoenix Art Museum. Becky Senf is the Norton Family Curator at the museum. Senf says the museum put out a worldwide call for self-published photo books.

A jury of seven industry professionals looked at all 271 entries, and narrowed them down to the 151 books in the exhibit.

This isn’t the first exhibit like this - Senf is quick to credit the Cleveland Art Museum, which put on a similar show in 2012. I visited Senf at the museum to see the exhibit, and I have to say, these books did not look like the vacation albums I put together on a site like shutterfly, although she says there were some entries along those lines.

The Infocus Juried Exhibition of Self-Published Photo Books will be up until September 28 at the Phoenix Art Museum.
