Arizona Motor Vehicle Division Deals With Flooded Offices

Arizona’s Motor Vehicle Division has been dealing with flooded offices, after this week’s heavy rains in the valley.

Spokesman Ryan Harding said three MVD licensing and vehicle registration centers were closed Monday because of water inside the buildings. He said the MVD office at 51st Avenue and Indian School Road, in the west valley, was hardest hit and remained closed yesterday.

“Water wound up leaking into the basement of that building through an electrical conduit and that required us to shut down electrical power to the building.  It could be a few more days before the basement is able to be used again," Harding said.

Harding said other MVD offices in Surprise and Glendale were also closed Monday, but reopened Tuesday. He said it’s too early to estimate the financial damages to MVD buildings.
