How The US Geological Survey Measures Water Velocity

USGS
USGS measures floods with a yellow submarine (and other equipment).

A Price Double A Current Meter looks like a yellow submarine, with several spinning cups on top of it, connected to a meter. The U.S. Geological Survey uses it to measure water velocity-and it’s gotten a good amount of use over the past several weeks. Ken Fossum is the Acting Field Chief for the USGS Tempe office.
