Flagstaff police will soon be wearing body cameras. Sgt. Margaret Bentzen said 15 patrol officers have already been trained to use the cameras, which were purchased in July. They will be sharing their knowledge with their peers over the next few weeks.
Bentzen said the goal is to document every action of the officers and protect them if allegations of excessive force, misconduct or racial profiling surface.
“It was that positive foresight on our administration and command here at Flag P-D that realized these are good things and that we could use ‘em and we need ‘em,” Bentzen said.
Bentzen says they expect all officers will be wearing the body cameras by early next month.
