Southwest Arizona Already Seeing Rain

Southern Arizona has been seeing a lot of rain already Wednesday morning. Though the rainfall at Tucson airport itself has been light, various part of the region have seen between half-an-inch and two-and-a-half inches of rain since last night.

Lee Carlaw is a meteorologist for the National Weather Service in Tucson. He says the rain is going to continue through tomorrow.

"When all is said and done really, we are looking at a widespread area say of 2-5 inches across the region with isolated amounts of 5-6 inches definitely possible especially where you get thunderstorms that set up in the mountain regions and the lakes," Carlaw said.

With that much rain expected, Carlaw says there is a flash flood warning in effect for much of the desert southwest. That includes Phoenix.
