Tempe Splash And Dash Race Cancelled

Thursday’s Ironcare sponsored Splash and Dash race in Tempe was cancelled due to Wednesday’s rain. By mid-day, Tempe Town Lake had received two-tenths of an inch of rain. That’s the point the city must check the water quality for bacteria.

Melissa Quillard with the City of Tempe said it takes about 24 hours to get the results. With the recent storms, water quality has become an issue.

"Again, we’ve been testing the water since the storm ended last week, daily, and it’s safe," Quillard said. "The water quality has not been compromised. It’s safe for what’s called the full body contact standards, which includes all these recreational activities that take place."

Sunday’s Lifetime Tri Tempe event is still a go, but Quillard said that could change depending on the weather.
