Swim Area In Slide Rock State Park To Reopen

Ready, set, slide. The water slides in Oak Creek Canyon are about to reopen.

While Slide Rock State Park has remained open, despite the wildfire that charred more than 21,000 acres north of Sedona, access to the creek and its popular slickrock slides has been banned, because of concerns about contamination and flooding.

That changes tomorrow morning. The state parks department says a limited area of the creek will reopen at 8 a.m.

The Arizona Daily Sun reports, however, the U.S. Forest Service is continuing to bar public access to the creek, above Midgley Bridge.

Admission fees will continue to be discounted at $10, which is half what they were before the Slide Fire.
