Governor Jan Brewer’s appointed team has finished investigating all of the child abuse cases that were ignored by the former Child Protective Services Agency.

In total, 582 children were removed from their homes as a result of these investigated cases. The Child Advocate Response Examination Team investigated nearly 6,600 cases that were marked "Not Investigated" between 2009 and 2013.

“The vast majority of them were actually during 2013," said spokeswoman Jennifer Bowser-Richards. "There were a few in '09 and then kind of scattered throughout those first couple years. But 2013 was certainly the most significant.”

The former Child Protective Services Agency was replaced by the Department of Child Safety in the beginning of this year.
