Arizona Has 8th Highest Poverty Rate In The Country

New numbers from the U.S. Census Bureau show more than 18 percent of Arizonans lived in poverty last year. That was the eighth highest rate in the country.

More than a quarter of kids under 18 lived in poverty last year. Cynthia Zwick, Executive Director of the Arizona Community Action Association, said the numbers are not a surprise.
