Disaster Declaration For Sept. 8 Storm

A disaster declaration for Maricopa County has been declared after the Sept. 8 storm. This means low interest loans from the Small Business Administration for homeowners and businesses. Spokesman Garth MacDonald said borrowers have up to 30 years to pay back the money at interest rates as low as 2 percent.

"We distribute funds as needed as they are rebuilding and recovering," MacDonald said. "They may now know exactly how much they want or need or are willing to borrow, but they don’t have to know what when they apply. There is no obligation. There is no cost to apply.”

MacDonald said residents or business owners with any amount of damage from that storm are eligible to apply online or in person at local offices in Glendale or Mesa. People can get money as quickly as two weeks after they submit an application.
