Forest Service In Northern Arizona Having Busy Prescribed Burn Season

Forest Service rangers in the North Kaibab district are reporting a busy prescribed burning season.

In the last few weeks rangers have burned more than 7,000 acres of Forests Service Land in northern Arizona.

Edward Hiatt is the district’s fire management officer. He said several factors led to this level of productivity.

"The weather was lined up really good for us, we had all our pre-work done on these prescribed fire units, we had a lot of outside resource help and we just moved forward and got a lot done," Hiatt said.

There are more prescribed burns are on the docket this week.
