State Budget Cuts May Affect Arizona Prisons

As the state of Arizona faces another huge budget deficit, some advocates say the state could save by spending less on the Department of Corrections.

Donna Leone Hamm is the founder of Middle Ground Prison Reform, a nonprofit agency that works to protect the rights of the incarcerated.

Some states have altered their criminal codes so lower-level offenders are spending less time in prison. Based on other states, does it seem like a good idea for Arizona?
