Encore Group Helps Retirees Pursue Second Careers And Volunteer Opportunities

Arizona has a reputation as a good place to retire. But not everyone who retires wants to stop working.

Next week, Encore is bringing its annual conference to Tempe. The group helps retirees pursue what it calls “second acts,” often with nonprofits.

One of those retirees is Nels Johnson. He’s in his late 60s and is part of a group called Boomers Serving Arizona Schools. He volunteers at Maya High School in Phoenix.

Johnson joined me along with Nora Hannah, the CEO of Phoenix-based Experience Matters, which is affiliated with Encore.
