The Arizona Supreme Court has agreed to hear oral arguments in a freeway safety case that could cost the state millions.
The case centers on a fatal car crash in 2007 on the I-10 freeway where plaintiff Diana Glazer’s minivan was forced off the road, across the median and into oncoming traffic. The crash injured her and killed her daughter and husband.
A jury later held the Arizona Department of Transportation at fault for not erecting proper safety equipment on the freeway such as guardrails. Glazer was awarded nearly $8 million. That decision was upheld by a state court of appeals in April.
The Arizona Supreme Court will now review the case for errors on behalf of the trial judge. Oral arguments will likely be heard in December or January.
