The Maricopa County Elections Office updated the ballot count Friday night. These totals may affect at least one race in the 2014 general election.
In Maricopa County, an estimated 52,500 early ballots remain to be counted and 35,500 provisional ballots are still to be processed.
These new vote totals for Maricopa County affect the race for the Superintendent of public instruction. Democrat David Garcia is now ahead of Republican Diane Douglas by 70 votes in the county, but is still behind by 20,000 votes statewide.
The race for second district congressional seat between Democrat Ron Barber and Republican Martha McSally is still too close to call. The elections office will continue to count votes through the weekend.
