Visitors to the Phoenix Zoo can expect some changes. Specifically, a name change to the governing organization.
The Arizona Zoological Society is changing its name to the Arizona Center for Nature Conservation. This is the group that runs the Phoenix Zoo, but the zoo itself will not be changing its name.
Linda Hardwick, a spokesperson at the zoo, said the change will be minimal, mostly seen in logos and staff shirts. The zoo and exhibits will stay the same.
Hardwick said it’s really about shifting the focus to show their conservation message through signage, media stories and a general awareness campaign.
For now, there are no changes planned for current members.
