Effort Underway To Recall Diane Douglas

Even before she’s taken office, efforts are underway to recall state school superintendent-elect Diane Douglas.

Anthony Espinoza is a South Phoenix school teacher and the man behind the “Recall Diane Douglas” movement.

"The goal is to eventually get her recalled, but for now to get organized, to get backing and to get stronger support," Espinoza said.

Per state law, for a recall to occur, Espinoza will need the support of 25 percent of those who voted for school superintendent. He says that’s around 400,000 signatures.

Douglas cannot be recalled until she’s been in office for at least six months, according to state law.
