The state of Kentucky is dropping its proposed use of a two-drug execution method after problems in other states.
The prolonged deaths of inmates here in Arizona and in Ohio, states that have been using the two-drug method of lethal injection, have caused Kentucky to have second thoughts about following suit.
In a court filing yesterday, prosecutors cited "recent events in other states" as the reason they wanted to rewrite Kentucky's regulations over the next six months.
Lethal injections have undergone scrutiny in recent years as the drugs to carry them out have become harder for states to get because pharmaceutical companies are barring their use for executions.
Kentucky hasn’t executed anyone since 2010, when a judge took issue with the way they were handled.
