Tempe’s music history is a deep part of the city’s character and vibe. In fact, it’s being celebrated in a new exhibit at the Tempe History Museum.

In the November issue of Phoenix Magazine, managing editor Niki D’Andrea zeroes in on the impact of one especially iconic Tempe guitarist and songwriter, the late Doug Hopkins of the Gin Blossoms.

Hopkins had a promising career derailed when he was kicked out of the Gin Blossoms and later committed suicide. But D'Andrea says he still maintains a strong legacy in the music community.
