Secretary of Defense Chuck Hagel resigned Monday. He was in the position for just under two years. Senator John McCain said Hagel felt he wasn’t in on important policy decisions.
“Senator Hagel had come to visit me in my office a week ago where I got the impression that he was very frustrated," McCain said. "But I wasn’t sure that he was going to do this."
McCain said he would recommend either former Senator Joe Lieberman or current Senator Carl Levin. He said they would have an easy time with confirmation. Both men have served on the Senate Committee on Armed Services.
