Thanksgiving Day in the Valley is going to be warmer than normal this year. Meteorologists say temperatures in some areas could reach about 85 degrees.
Temperatures in late November typically hover around 70 degrees. And while meteorologists say 85 isn’t unheard of, it is about 10 degrees above normal.
A strong high pressure system will create poor air quality across the area, holding the ash and other pollutants in the air from the mulch fire smoldering in the west Valley.
"That air really isn’t going to go anywhere," said Dan Lyons, a meteorologist with the National Weather Service. "It’s not going to mix out, it’s not going to thin out, and with morning temperatures dropping into the low 40s like they have been the last couple days, we’re going to see this poor air quality hang around for at least the next couple days."
Winds this weekend are also expected to be calm with temperatures returning to normal next week.
