Some Walmart shoppers will be exposed to more than Black Friday prices this weekend. About 100 disgruntled Walmart employees are expected to take part in a nationwide protest at the 37th Street and Thomas Road store in Phoenix.
“Workers are gonna be speaking out about the mistreatment and bullying and occasionally outright abuse that they’ve been receiving in their stores,” said Joe Murphy from the United Food and Commercial Workers Union.
The workers and community leaders who plan to demonstrate Friday will be demanding a pay hike of $15 an hour and more full-time jobs, at Walmart.
“Walmart’s the largest private sector employer in the country. If they were to put an end to retaliation nationwide, if they were gonna treat their workers better, they would be lifting up a lot more people," Murphy said.
