Hockey fans have something to tweet about. The Arizona Coyotes have upgraded the cell services in the Gila River Arena from 2G up to 4G LTE.
Jim Foss with the Coyotes said the change will be accomplishing something the new owners are keen on, allowing fans to call, text and tweet much faster.
"They’re really looking to upgrade the fan experience, to post on social media, if they want to post pictures of their favorite artists," Foss said. "We can do all of that now. And that’s what’s going on here."
Not only can it keep fans happy, but it helps security as well.
“I’d be at a game and I’d want to text security," Foss said. "Say it’s loud and you can’t hear very well on the radio, you want to text message and it take five minutes for the message to go through. Well, by then, the situation might have escalated. I mean, just a real life experience for me. That’s one upgrade.”
Foss also said this change didn’t happen just for the upcoming Super Bowl, which will be held in the nearby University of Phoenix Stadium. It’s just a coincidence of timing.
