U.S. Census Bureau To Conduct Data Collection Test In Maricopa County

Officials from the U.S. Census Bureau are preparing for a data collection test in Maricopa County next year. They’ll reach out to 1.6 million homes in the Valley in an attempt to try out new technology and management practices. Regional director Cathy Lacy says they’ll be trying some ideas prompted by the 2010 census.

Lacy said they chose the area for its diverse demographics.

Those processes include a new online submission process as well as having census takers record data to an app on their mobile phones. Despite recent commercial data breaches, Lacy said respondents shouldn’t worry about their personal information being compromised.

Valley residents should begin hearing from the Census Bureau in March.
