Gas Prices Continue To Drop

The cost of gas is continuing to drop across the state and the country. At $2.66 per gallon this week, Arizona hasn’t seen prices this low in four years.

In some spots around the Valley, it’s under $2.50. And it’s probably going to go lower. That’s AAA’s projection. Michelle Donati is a spokesperson for the association.

"AAA is projecting that prices could drop another 15 to 20 cents per gallon in the near term," she said. "Because retail prices right now still have to catch up with steep declines in both the cost of crude oil and wholesale gasoline."

And Donati said OPEC’s decision to maintain oil production is helping maintain those declines.

Arizona’s gas prices are down more than 50 cents from the same time last year.
