Airport Sky Train Extends Service To Terminal 3

Life is about to get easier for travelers at Sky Harbor International Airport. Sky Harbor is set to open the next leg of the Sky Train Monday.

The Terminal 3 station will open at noon, connecting passengers to Terminal 4, the East Economy parking lot and the light rail station at 44th and Washington Streets.

Heather Lissner, with Sky Harbor said this latest extension does something else, too.

"It provides that really vital connection to downtown Phoenix, to Tempe, to Mesa," Lissner said. "It makes it a lot easier to get to the airport to get downtown to get to the rest of the community."

The Terminal 3 station will also connect to Terminal 2 via a covered walkway. This latest extension cost $240 million. That’s in addition to the $644 million spent on the first stage, which opened in April 2013.
