A woman flying from San Francisco to Phoenix gave birth to a new passenger shortly after the plane took off.
Southwest Air Flight 623 was diverted to Los Angeles International Airport Tuesday morning.
An airline spokesperson said the woman was assisted by the flight crew as well as a doctor and nurse who were aboard.
Firefighter-paramedics boarded the jet in LA and the mother and newborn were taken to a hospital in good condition.
