The broader consideration of the topic generated headlines at least in part because of NFL running back Ray Rice. Sexual assault on college campuses also received more national attention because of a controversial story in Rolling Stone magazine about the University of Virginia.
And ASU is one of dozens of colleges being investigated by the U.S. Department of Education for the way it handles complaints of sexual violence.
