Catholic Diocese In New Mexico Issues "Accused Clergy" List

The Catholic Diocese of Gallup, N.M., has released a list of what it calls “credibly accused clergy” linked to decades-old sex abuse cases in Arizona and New Mexico.

The list includes 31 priests and one lay teacher assigned to parishes from the 1950s to last year.

Bishop James Wall said he’s making the new list, which includes 22 additional names, to protect children in the spirit of transparency.

In a statement he apologized for the actions of those who committed what Wall calls “these terrible acts.”

The bishop asks victims who recognize names on the diocese website to contact law enforcement.

Priests on the list worked in a number of Arizona cities and towns, including Flagstaff, Prescott, Holbrook, Winslow, Kingman, and a number of locations on Indian Reservations across the state.
