A Maricopa County Superior Court has determined that Martha McSally received the most votes in Arizona's 2nd Congressional District race after a mandatory recount. The final tally found that McSally won by 167 votes, a difference of six votes from election night.
Arizona Secretary of State Ken Bennett said as per state law, this is the final word on the election results.
"But I have often watched as anyone can file a lawsuit at any time over anything," Bennett said. "But there was an opportunity by the Barber campaign to make whatever points they wanted to make if they felt there were any and they answered the judge 'no'."
Bennett says Pima and Cochise counties recounted more than a quarter-million ballots. McSally’s victory means that Republicans will hold 247 seats in the U.S. House of Representatives. Democrats hold 188.
