Starting Monday, Arizona must allow young immigrants known as DREAMers the right to apply for driver’s licenses.
That’s the latest order from a federal judge after a two-year legal battle.
In 2012 the Obama administration granted work permits and a reprieve from deportation to young immigrants brought to this country illegally as children.
Arizona was one of just two states that decided to bar these immigrants from getting licenses.
Earlier this year the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals ordered the state to begin issuing these immigrants licenses.
On Wednesday, the United States Supreme Court declined to intervene. The state may still appeal the matter up to the high court.
