Prepackaged caramel apples have been linked to a multistate listeria outbreak. Four cases have been reported in Arizona.

The outbreak has impacted at least 10 states with at least 28 reported cases. Five people have died.

Jessica Rigler is with the Arizona Department of Health Services. She says because a specific manufacturer has not been tied to the outbreak, there is no official recall yet.

"Right now we would just advise anyone to not eat any prepackaged caramel apples," said Rigler.

According to the centers for Disease control Listeria is a serious food borne bacterial that can cause fever, muscle aches and gastrointestinal distress.
