$400,000 Of Snow Fencing Stolen From Arizona Department Of Transportation

The Arizona Department of Transportation is reporting nearly $400,000 of stolen snow fencing. The aluminum panels sit along State Route 273 near the Sunrise Ski Resort in the White Mountains.

“They are extremely important to us because they help us prevent snow from drifting onto the highway and this particular region on state route 273 there aren’t many barriers alongside the roadway," said ADOT spokesman Dustin Krugel.

ADOT believes the stolen fences may be sold to scrap yards. Arizona law requires scrap metal dealers to register on a theft notification website. Once the theft is reported the description of stolen metals is sent to dealers within a 100 mile radius of the theft.
